We scope projects to match our team size. When timelines slip, we adjust scope, not schedules. The people who built this studio came from environments where crunch was normalized, and they started Kairox specifically to change that.

Full credits, always

Every contributor is credited in every game they worked on. No contractor exceptions. No contractor-versus-full-time distinctions in the credits roll. If you built something, your name is on it.

Ownership over titles

We do not have a hierarchy of titles. We have responsibilities. Every person on a project has a clearly defined area of ownership and the authority to make decisions within it without approvals from above.

Tools that match the ambition

We built our own engine because nothing else was right for what we make. We spend on good tools. We invest in proper hardware. We do not ask people to produce excellent work on inadequate infrastructure.

What you will work on

  • Rendering pipeline extensions including deferred shading and volumetric lighting improvements
  • Memory management and CPU/GPU synchronization at the engine core level
  • Profiling, identifying, and resolving performance bottlenecks across all three titles
  • Editor tooling that serves level designers and technical artists

What we are looking for

  • 5 or more years of C++ game engine development experience
  • Shipped at least one game on PC or console at a production role
  • Deep familiarity with Vulkan, DirectX 12, or Metal
  • Comfort working without prescribed specs; ownership mindset

  • Weapons and ability systems design for Neonfall's operative loadout framework
  • Designing and iterating on permadeath implications at every stage of Kurogane's progression
  • Playtest coordination and data-driven iteration from internal and external sessions

What we are looking for

  • Credited design work on at least one shipped action or action-RPG game
  • Deep personal investment in precision combat as a design discipline
  • Ability to prototype quickly in-engine, not just in docs
  • Willingness to play your own work critically and cut what isn't working

A paid, bounded task relevant to the role. One week maximum. We review and discuss it together. We do not keep the work. You keep the fee regardless of outcome.

Team Interview

A 90-minute session with 3 to 4 people you would work with directly. Focused on collaboration and judgment, not trivia. An offer follows within 48 hours if it is right.
